At Innov8 Hub, I established the Product Design, Simulation and Robotics labs around the practical work teams needed to do: turn concepts into prototypes, build immersive applications and experiment with robotic systems. The project brought technical planning and day-to-day lab use into the same brief.
Lab design & setup
I translated team workflows into equipment specifications, procurement requirements and workspace layouts. I established the three labs and led their development into spaces for prototyping, research and training.
Development approach
The starting point was the workflow. I translated design, fabrication, simulation and testing needs into equipment specifications and workspace layouts, then carried those requirements into procurement and setup. This connected the choice of tools to the activities each lab needed to support.
The three spaces served related disciplines. Product design supported the move from concept to physical prototype; simulation supported digital and immersive development; robotics brought hardware and software experimentation together. My responsibility extended beyond planning the rooms to leading their development as working technical facilities.
Outcome
The resulting facilities supported product fabrication, immersive development, robotics research and training. This work demonstrates both hands-on engineering judgement and the ability to establish the environment in which a technical team can deliver.
